NATIONAL MEANS CUM MERIT SCHOLARSHIP --N.M.M.S.


The scheme
         N.M.M.S. is a centrally sponsored scheme conducted by Ministry of Human Resources and Development (MHRD). The government of India provides scholarship to 100,000 meritorious students of government schools whose parental income is not more than Rs.1,50,000/- per annum from all sources. NMMS examination is held for the students studying in 8th class. The students who are selected in NMMS examination and have passed eighth class are given scholarships from class IX to class XII. This scholarship is only for government school children.
Objectives

  1. To inspire the meritorious students of the economically weaker section
  2. To decrease the rate of drop out students after 8th class.
  3. To encourage the students continuity in higher classes in govt. school.
  4. To enhance the quality of the government school.

    Scholarship
The state of Rajasthan has the allocated quota of 5471 scholarships. Under this scheme students selected are provided Rs. 500 per month for four years.
           
Procedure for selection
1. NMMS examination is held for the students studying in class eight.

For passing the examination the students of general category should have minimum 40 % marks (including MAT & SAT aggregate) and students of ST & SC should have 32 % marks. There is no negative marking.

Eligibility

  1. This is only for government school students.
  2. Only those students can appear in the examination who have scored minimum marks of 55 % (general) and 50 % (SC/ST) in class 7th.
  3. The annual income of the parents should not exceed Rs 150000/-
